CFD Tutorial – Theory and simulation of emptying or draining a tank | FLUENT ANSYS

This tutorial will demonstrate how to derive the correct equations using Torricelli’s law to calculate the drainage or the emptying time of a cylindrical tank. Additionally, a transient CFD simulation of emptying a cylindrical tank will be carried out using the volume of fluid model (VOF) to compare the numerical solution using the engineering ANSYS Fluent software with the exact solution from the differential equations derived.
