Chief of U.S. Central Command, General Frank Mckenzie says he takes full responsibility for a drone strike that left many Afghan civilians dead in August. McKenzie was speaking on the second day of a congressional hearing, featuring senior military officials who oversaw last months withdrawal from Afghanistan. General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs Staff was also present during the testimony. The drone strike in Kabul which the US military initially claimed intended to target a Daesh terrorist position killed 10 civilians, including 7 children. During the hearing, McKenzie and Milley also revealed they had recommended the US administration to keep at least 25-hundred personnel in Afghanistan because an accelerated withdrawal could hasten the countrys collapse. President Joe Biden previously denied any such recommendation.
