Seimareh City in Ilam

The land of Elaam has a long and proud history and the Elamites were a strong and powerful matriarchal nation that grew from 2 thousand, 7 hundred BC to 5 hundred BC. While the Sumerians thrived in southern Mesopotamia, the Elam civilisation took root to the east of the Mesopotamian Valley in what is now southwestern Iran and southern Iraq. Among all the provinces in southwestern Iran only one shares the same name as this empire: Ilaam.
