This is a complete road
This is a complete road trip from California to New York in 52 hours. This video covers our trip from our home in Bakersfield, California to our home in Bay Shore, New York. This is a not a vacation or sight seeing trip. We did not go off the road to visit places. We were extremely concerned about our safety due to the Corona virus, and we were on a schedule. We wanted to get to New York and then come back. So, we stuck to the road.
We got our directions for this cross-country trip from Google Maps. It said the driving time was 42 hours. Naturally, we were not going to drive completely non-stop to get there in 42 hours. But we took a total of 52 hours to get to our destination.
We started our trip on July 1st, 2020, in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, to be exact, we left Bakersfield at 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, and pulled into our driveway in Bay Shore around 6:40 p.m. on Friday evening. Not counting the 3 hours difference in the time zone, it took us 52 hours.
We did not stop for overnight stays at hotels, or for meals in restaurants. The only stops we made were for gas, and in rest areas to freshen up. We had brought plenty of finger food, snacks, and drinks with us for the entire trip. We took turns driving and sleeping in the car.
A memorable trip for us. This was our first recorded trip. We made a bunch of mistakes in recording and completing this video, but we learned a lot. We and had a great time during the travel and editing of this video.
We are sharing the entire driving time, including driving through the nights. At night there is not much to see on the road, but we wanted to share it because we loved it. It was nice and cool and there was not much traffic. Plus, there is something about driving endlessly through the dark that makes it special.
We increased the video speed 10 times to shorten the length. But there was still a lot of time to keep staring at empty roads. So, we decided to add general information about each state we traveled through (please do not quote the information we have added or hold us to it as we simply searched it on the internet and added it here to make our video more entertaining. Hope you understand). Most people who have traveled on these roads may not find much value in the information we have added but we believe it might still be entertaining or of some help to those who have not traveled across country or who are overseas. In addition, we also added some photos, and, to break things up a bit, short clips from our interior camera to show how we were doing during this long drive. It is our story as well, kind of.
