Nonbinary Emojis?!?!
Check out the 78 Apple and 55 Android non-binary emojis (shown in the center column in the video). This is about 1 in 4 of the approximately 278 Apple gendered emojis (counting just the racially-neutral ones). And this is about 1 in 5 of the approximately 255 Android gendered emojis (again just counting the racially-neutral ones).
There are limitations to these new emojis (including the fact that they are not one in three of the gendered emojis, as they should be). Despite this, I think it's awesome that they were added. They make me very happy. My favorites are the Android non-binary meditator and the Android merperson (as opposed to a mermaid or merman). And I'm curious to hear what your favorites are.
(Note: the majority of these Apple emojis were added in October of 2019. For Android, these new emoji graphics came to the first phones in September of 2019, but are still being rolled out for many phones, and will not be available on older phone models.)
