New hi-tech insertion craft prototype for the Royal Marines in action
The Ministry of Defence is looking for a new design to replace the Royal Marine Commando Force's LCVP (Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel) - a design that can trace its origins back to the Second World War.
A submission from Steller Systems, known as the Offshore Insertion Craft, is in the running to be the LCVP's replacement, but can it meet the Ministry of Defence's requirements?
To win the MOD's Novel Amphibious Craft competition, any new design must be able to sustain a speed of 25 knots over up to 350 nautical miles.
