Molavi Street (formerly Ismail Bazaz) is a street in the south of Tehran between Razi Square and Ghiam Square. This street is located on the south side of Tehran's Grand Bazaar and starts from the Customs Square and passes through the Execution Square in the middle and ends in Ghiam Square.

This street is one of the old streets of Tehran and its construction history dates back to the period of Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar. Important centers such as the historical market of Rumi, the market of cloth sellers or curtains, the church of Thaddeus, the alley of the garden of the ambassador and a place called the chicken alley (which is a market for buying and selling all kinds of animals) can be mentioned.

History
The history of the construction of Molavi Street dates back to 1284 AH (1246 AD) and the development plan of Tehran in the Nasserite era. Nasser al-Din Shah orders them to go a thousand steps south of the southern border of Tehran and dig a new moat in the city at this point (which is located at the current location of Shousha Street in Tehran); And to build Rumi Street in the north of the ditch and in the place of Shah Tahmasebi tower and fort.

This street, which was originally called Ismail Bazaz, was named after Rumi during the reign of Reza Shah Pahlavi. Also, during the reign of Reza Shah, Mohammadieh Square (execution) was built along this street.

A civil skeleton was discovered in a civil excavation on this street, which shows the long history of life in the Molavi area of Tehran.
