After Effects Tip: Center Anchor Point

In Adobe After Effects learn how to center an anchor point which refers to the Pivot point, or the center of a layer.

In After Effects the anchor point effects how a layer will behave in terms of its transformations such as scaling, position, and rotation.

The Pan Behind tool inside After Effects allows you to grab and reposition the anchor point in the composition window without affecting the layers position relative to the composition.

After Effects Reset Anchor Point to its Default Location:

▶ Ctrl + double-click (Windows) the Pan Behind (Anchor Point)
▶ Cmd + double-click (Mac) the Pan Behind (Anchor Point)

▶ Ctrl + Alt + Home (Windows)
▶ Cmd + Option + Home (Mac)


If you are missing the Home key on your keyboard the shortcut is:

▶ Ctrl + Alt + fn + Left arrow key (Windows)
▶ Cmd + Option + fn + Left arrow key (Mac)
