How To Curve A Cue Ball | Billiards Masse Shot Tutorial

In this video we are going to teach you how to masse or curve a cue ball. Let’s get right into it.
Why?

Before we get into how to do this shot, let’s go over why you should learn this shot and when would you use it in a real match? Here’s a few examples: In this situation, our object ball is blocked by your opponents ball. You can kick it (or sometimes you can’t).

Same options, kick (or not). These are harder but once you learn this can be a high percentage shot.
How?

For long shots, you’ll be hitting very high and sometimes even on top of the ball for hard curves. The higher up on the cue ball you hit, the more it will curve. You want to hit the ball on the side that you want the cue ball to spin, the more on the side you hit, the more spin. ALWAYS push through your shot with any masse. Play with your speed until it feels right.
short shot
Now to the short shot on the rail, For this shot you are going to want to sit up on the table, and you are hitting on top of the cue ball. You still want to hit the side you want to spin, but you are going to need to be more focused on backspin then right. Practice by just drawing the cue ball into the rail. Aim more out to the side and try to pull the cue ball into the corner. ALWAYS FOLLOW THROUGH.
A whole bunch of shots
PRACTICE. This is by far the most important part of getting this shot down. Just keep practicing until you get the feel for it. It will start to feel similar to how you use english normally on a cue ball.
