Israeli tanks have completely surrounded the entire eastern side of the southern Gaza city of Rafah as Israel vows to begin its full-scale operation in the city if a truce deal is not reached with Hamas.

President Biden has continued to voice his opposition to the Rafah offensive and said this week that the US would not supply weapons that Israel could use to launch it.

During an interview with CNN, Biden explained that the US is still committed to Israel’s defense and would supply Iron Dome rocket interceptors and other defensive arms, but added that if Israel goes into Rafah, “we’re not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells used.”

The US chose last week to pause a shipment of heavy bombs to Israel as Biden said Israel needs to do more to protect civilian lives in Gaza.
Dr. Asaf Romirowsky, the executive director of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East spoke with LiveNOW from FOX’s Josh Breslow about the situation in Rafah.

The United Nations General Assembly is also expected to vote Friday afternoon on whether Palestine should receive full membership to the UN. Unlike in the UN Security Council, there is no veto in the General Assembly, so the resolution is expected to pass.
