This tutorial quickly runs over
This tutorial quickly runs over what power is in the context of electric circuits. Power is the rate of energy transfer. It’s defined as P = dW/dt and is given in units of Joules per second (Watts) or kilowatts. Due to the passive sign convention of circuits, positive power always refers to dissipated (or absorbed) power, and negative power always refers to delivered (or generated) power.
