The bazaar in Kerman dates back to 600 years ago to Timurid era when a number of people got together and established an optional bazaar as the primary base of the great bazaar in Kerman. Other parts were then added to it in different periods of time and finally ended up to the formation of the bazaar which is the greatest bazaar in the country in terms of market order.
This precious complex begins in eastern and western parts from the Arg Square and end in Mirza Reza-ye Kermani Street. It has included invaluable attractions such as Ganj Ali Khan, Vakil Complex, Sardar House, Gheisariehs, etc. in a 1200 meters long roofed space (except for Mozaffari Bazaar).
Wherever you step in the bazaar, you will feel a weird and different feeling; copper-smith Bazaar reminds you of the history and traditional aspect of the place; Mozaffari Bazaar represents the most common aspect of the bazaar, that is, business and common public purchases to meet their daily needs; the tourists and ancient monument lovers are mostly seen in Ganj Ali Khan and Arg bazaars.
The vast and old bazaar of Kerman in the old downtown and with beautiful appearance has remained from old times and its architectural properties astound observers.
As some experts believe, Kerman Bazaar is the greatest competitor of Tabriz Bazaar that was world registered in 1390.
قدمت بازار کرمان به 600 سال قبل و به دوران تیموریان می رسد که عده ای دور هم جمع شدند و بازاری اختیاری را به عنوان پایگاه اولیه بازار بزرگ کرمان ایجاد کردند. بخش‌های دیگری نیز در دوره‌های زمانی مختلف به آن افزوده شد و در نهایت به شکل‌گیری بازار که بزرگترین بازار کشور از نظر نظم بازار است، ختم شد.
این مجموعه گرانبها از قسمت های شرقی و غربی از میدان ارگ شروع و به خیابان میرزا رضای کرمانی ختم می شود. در فضایی مسقف به طول 1200 متر (به جز بازار مظفری) جاذبه های با ارزشی چون گنج علی خان، مجموعه وکیل، سردار سردار، قیصریه ها و... را در خود جای داده است.
هرجای بازار که قدم بگذاری، حس عجیب و غریبی بهت دست می دهد. بازار مسگری شما را به یاد تاریخ و جنبه سنتی این مکان می اندازد. بازار مظفری نمایانگر رایج ترین وجه بازار است، یعنی خریدهای تجاری و عمومی برای رفع نیازهای روزمره آنها. گردشگران و دوستداران آثار باستانی بیشتر در بازار گنجعلی خان و ارگ دیده می شوند.
بازار وسیع و قدیمی کرمان در مرکز شهر قدیمی و با ظاهری زیبا از دوران قدیم باقی مانده است و خواص معماری آن ناظران را حیرت زده می کند.
همانطور که برخی کارشناسان معتقدند بازار کرمان بزرگترین رقیب بازار تبریز است که در سال 1390 به ثبت جهانی رسیده است.
