Legendary disco producer Frank Farian - founder and mastermind behind the hit 1970s band Boney M - has died on January 23 at the age of 82, according to his family. Farian passed away at his home in Miami, according to a statement released by his agency on behalf of his family on Tuesday.
Liz Mitchell, one of the original singers of Boney M, paid tribute to Farian in a post on Facebook. The German producer established the band in 1976 and served as its main songwriter while they produced a series of disco hits such as Daddy Cool, Rasputin, and a well-received rendition of the Christmas song, Mary's Boy Child. He later founded the pop duo Milli Vanilli, and worked with music legends including Meat Loaf and Stevie Wonder.
