When two or more people have different perspectives on a problem, there is a chance that that may lead to a conflict. But we are human! It’s normal to have different perceptions and tendencies. So what factors lead to the beginning of a conflict?

There are three elements involved and these include poor communication, different rules and regulations across different departments and lastly but most commonly, personality differences. Throw in the emotional component which is our perception of the conflict, our intentions towards the problem (or the person), and our behaviour towards the other person, the outcome of the conflict could either be positive (where problems could be solved) or negative (where feelings are hurt and tasks are not completed). Understanding each of these steps will help us define a strategy to conflict resolution.

What are the common factors for conflict on your team? Has this conflict led to positive or negative outcomes? Share your insights in the comments’ section below!
