Lots of people are nervous when it comes to getting braces. Mostly, their anxiety comes from not knowing what to expect, and assuming that it will hurt. At Team Orthodontics, this is how we do it. We've condensed it down to a minute, but typically the whole procedure takes 45-60 minutes. If you would like an extended version, please let us know in the comments!

First, we place a cheek retractor to keep the teeth dry. Then we use little micro crystals to blow onto the teeth to get rid of any plaque (or anything else that would keep the brackets from sticking).

After, we place a tongue piece to suction (keeping everything dry is very important). The blue gel applied is called etch. It opens the pores of the teeth so the glue can seep in and create a better bond.

The next step is primer. We brush it on the tooth and dry it off.

Next, the brackets are placed. The glue was already added to them, and the doctor will place back teeth first (just to ensure everything is dry, creating a good bond to the tooth). Then the rest are applied and positioned by the doctor.

Once all the braces are positioned, we use a curing light to dry the glue. Once they glue has set, we remove the check stretcher and tongue piece, rinse and place the wires.
