Linear actuators are known by several different names including- Electric actuators, linear electric actuators, electric ram, electric lift ram, electric lift cylinders. These pieces of equipment are extremely useful as they can be powered by voltages as low as 12v, but even a 12v linear actuator is capable of generating a couple of hundred kilo’s of force. This video shows a 12v linear actuator connected to a bench power supply unit, when the polarity is reversed the linear actuator moves in the opposite direction.
