BRICS officially welcomes new members

Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Ethiopia are now official members of the BRICS group. Their membership took effect on 1 January 2024, completing the bloc's expansion that was confirmed during the August summit held in Johannesburg.
