STORYLINE:
American boxing legend Muhammad Ali arrived in Afghanistan on Sunday on a three-day goodwill mission for the United Nations.
He aims to focus world attention on rebuilding the war-shattered country.
The former world heavyweight champ, now a "UN Messenger of Peace," met Afghan President Hamid Karzai for informal talks in Kabul.
During the meeting Karzai presented Ali with a Chupan - a long wool coat worn by Afghan men.
On Monday, the 60-year-old sports hero is due to visit a girl's school, a women's bakery, and young athletes at one of the city's sporting clubs.
Ali, who departs on Tuesday, was making the visit - his first to Afghanistan - as a guest of the U.N. children's agency and the U.N. World Food Program.
A Devout Muslim, Ali, who suffers from Parkinson's Disease, is one of dozens of celebrities from around the globe to serve as a goodwill ambassadors or "Messengers of Peace" for the United Nations.
