The time for action on climate is now! All countries must play their part. There is a lot more governments can do to reduce emissions and address climate change. By focusing on five economic sectors, we can tackle nearly 90% of emissions. Industry, electricity, agriculture, transport and buildings are the main sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Cutting these greenhouse gas emissions is key to sustainable and healthy lives, and livelihoods. Taking the right climate policy actions  now, can get us on track to achieve our climate targets by 2025. And they will help us change our lives for the better too. The OECD supports and helps drive higher levels of ambition and tangible outcomes – on mitigation, adaptation and resilience, and financing – that better align with the collective goals of the Paris Agreement. This includes enhanced support for climate action in developing countries, including in the least developed and most vulnerable countries, which are heavily impacted by climate change, but lack access to tools required to support a transition to net-zero emissions.

ABOUT THE OECD
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation established in 1960 that works collaboratively to build better policies for better lives. Our goal is to shape policies that foster prosperity, equality, opportunity and well-being for all. Together with governments, policy makers, policy shapers, and citizens, we work on establishing evidence-based international standards and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges.

From improving economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion, we provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.
