Stirling engine development for cogeneration of cheap DIY energy to become off grid and independent

Here I show you my way to get more power out of the Rhombic Stirling engine and improve its reliability and durability.

With various measures such as optimizing the running surfaces with the piston rings and the roller bearings of the rhombic drive, I am trying to make the Stirling engine capable of continuous operation.

In this way, we can use it to support our electricity generation and cover our electricity needs in the most climate-neutral way possible and become independent self-suppliers.

This was followed by extensive test runs to optimize the balance between friction and sealing of the piston running surfaces.

During these test runs, I once again realized the immense importance of friction in the Stirling engine.

The relatively small friction differences in my test series resulted in power differences of almost 300 watts.

There is a huge potential in the correct design of the running surface pairing which I still have to exploit.

The Stirling engine delivers very little power per cycle as only a small proportion of the working gas is involved in the complete Stirling process, in contrast to the combustion engine where almost all of the working gas passes through the entire cycle.

A little too much contact pressure on the piston rings and the Stirling will only run with very little power.

As it would take too long to develop the system ready for use, I now want to investigate the potential of various alternative Stirling concepts such as the Thermo Mechanical Generator, Thermoacoustic engine, Thermal Lag engine or another Free Piston Stirling concept.
