In the twenty-first century, deepwater
In the twenty-first century, deepwater basins have remained the major focus of conventional oil and gas exploration, and discoveries of offshore giant fields have been phenomenal. Of more than 1000 giant fields worldwide, nearly 40% are located offshore, distributed unevenly across the Atlantic, Indian, West Pacific, and Arctic Circle regions. The current energy revolution motivates us to assess afresh deepwater superbasins because not only most of the new discoveries will come from these regions but also, they offer new and advantaged opportunities for hybrid energy technologies.
