IRAN - Kish Island
"IRAN - The Wonderland"
There are 6 types of geological islands in the world - Kish Island is a coral type, and flat. You can circle the island on a bike path in 2 hours or so. The rather small city is super clean with many fine hotels and condos. the turquoise blue waters of Persian Gulf and the pristine beaches are perfect for snorkeling.
The 2500+ years old kariz (underground aqueduct) is sixteen meters below the coral island through a maze of tunnels running in every direction for many miles. It carries the naturally filtered water (through the layers of corals above) to other parts of the island. About a mile or so of the Kish kariz has been transformed into a tourist attraction.
The remains of an old Portugues fort from the 16th century on the north shore not only speaks to the history of this region but gives you a view of a few offshore oilrigs and the tanker ships at the distance. That view is the answer to why the superpowers have made such a disaster of this region just to get their hands on the BLACK GOLD!
