The Beauty of Ballet is SAB’s free Lecture-Demonstration program which is open to the public and presented at NYC neighborhood venues for family audiences in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Harlem.

Founded in 1934 by George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein, The School of American Ballet has been training ballet dancers for generations. SAB is the official School of New York City Ballet.

This hour-long presentation is led by SAB faculty member Katrina Killian and features advanced SAB students. Audiences are offered a sneak-peek inside SAB’s classroom to witness how students train to become professional dancers. The program concludes with excerpts from famous ballets including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Stars and Stripes – performed by our students to live music. Recommended for ages 4 and above, The Beauty of Ballet is a wonderful introduction to the art of ballet.
