Hey folks, driving in Cairo is interesting to watch. It is never boring on the streets of Cairo. For more information subtitles in different languages are available. If you have suggestions or feedback just leave a comment, thank you.

In today's trip we start in Cairo's el Nozha district and finish in el Fustat. A tour within Cairo. You will notice the old "El Fardous Bridge" in the middle of Salah Salem Street. If yes, you don't need glasses. I filmed that before the modification has been started. But that is the last video with the old bridge. I am in Egypt only 3 weeks a year, that is why for to be impossible to film everything new built or new modified. Despite of that circumstances I hope you enjoy the ride. This tour is presented with additional side view.

You have to watch out for walking people, taxis, toktok's and especially for (white) microbuses. Their behavior is unpredictable and it can lead to a disaster. Otherwise is driving in Cairo, Egypt a funny and enjoyable thing.

El Fustat
El Fustat (الفسطاط) was the first capital of Egypt under Muslim rule.
It was founded in 641 by the general Amr Ibn el As. He also had the "Mosque of Amr" built.
It was the first mosque in Egypt and Africa.
El Fustat was Egypt's capital from A.D. 641-750 and A.D. 905-1168.
Now "El Fustat" is part of "Old Cairo."

Old Cairo
The first mosque in Egypt and Africa is located in today's Old Cairo.
It was founded in AD 643 by the General Amr ibn el As.
Today's appearance no longer corresponds to the original building. The current mosque dates from 1796.
In the 18th century the mosque fell into disrepair.
The Mamluk leader Mūrad Bey Muḥammad had the remains demolished and in 1796 a new building was built in its place.
Since then, the mosque has only had six of the original seven rows of columns.
There is also a complex with many Coptic Orthodox churches.
Of the hanging churches, the Sergios and Bakchos Church (Abu Serga) or the St. George Monastery to name three.
There is also a Greek Orthodox Church (St. George's Church) or the Ben Esra Synagogue.
This place is easy to get to by subway. The stop of line M1 is called "Mar Girgis"
