Fibroids are nothing but these are benign tumors. What I say benign is these are not the growths which is going to cause problem in the future. It is non-cancerous growth. So these are called fibroids. Fibroids arise from the muscle part of the uterus. Fibroids are very common in Indian scenario. It is even more common in people who are trying to conceive. So basically what happens is many of us have fibroid maybe the size varies and the position of the fibroid also see. Sometimes we all have fibroid maybe about 1 centimeter or 2 centimeters which is relatively harmless. So what is it that is bothering about fibroid is when it is very huge may be about 5 - 6 centimeters of the fibroid and it is indenting into what I mean by indenting is if it changes the shape of your uterus it will be difficult in conceiving. So this is where fibroid uterus is very important. So what happens here is suppose if fibroid is coming in the way of your conception ideal is to remove the fibroid, conserve the uterus and then try for pregnancy. Fibroid can be easily removed by laparoscopy. Laparoscopy is an advanced procedure it is a keyhole procedure where fibroid can be easily removed and it helps in easy conception.
