Review of the OnePlus 8
Review of the OnePlus 8 flagship phone, after a week and a half of using it as my full-time mobile. This fresh 2020 smartphone has been boosted in price, to £599 here in the UK - so here's everything you need to know about the OnePlus 8's camera tech, performance, battery life and real-life use, to see if it's worth a purchase. It's certainly one of the more affordable 5G phones but is it among the best?
Compared with the Pro model, this handset strips out a lot of the more premium features. Gone is the wireless charging, the 120Hz display, that motion smoothing, and the quad lens camera setup. All the same, the OnePlus 8 offers a great everyday experience. Battery life has been boosted versus the 7T, while you now have optimised charging and improved performance. That Snapdragon 865 is an absolute beast, for PubG Mobile action and the rest. You also now have 5G support, as well as WiFI 6, for future-proof connectivity.
The OP8 still packs a respectable camera too, albeit with the same IMX586 sensor as the previous gen. I do miss the improved HDR and the telephoto lens of the OnePlus 8 Pro, but it'll suit most users fine.
