Flamenco Guitar Alegrias in a
Flamenco Guitar Alegrias in a minor key, written by yours truly, Tabs & Notation available: https://sellfy.com/benwoods/p/fy1fys/ Alegrias (meaning happiness) is usually played in a major key, and is a very cool, structured Flamenco dance form in 12/8 time with lots of different parts and moods. And although I love playing the happy Alegrias for dancers over the past 20 years, it's always been kind of a drag to practice. To me it feels a little corny or cheesy, it's just not my style. So I did something about it, I rewrote my falsettas and letras in a minor key. You may notice I have replaced some of my picado and alzapua runs with 'Alternail' technique. It's becoming a more comfortable alternative for me.
This piece has all the parts to a traditional Alegrias dance number:
Entrada, letra (por romanze), remate, letra tradicional, remate, silencio, escobilla, bulerias de Cadiz, cierre. Except now they are all in a minor key. Any true Flamenco singer, dancer or guitarist is aware of these parts and how they work.
The guitar I'm playing is my signature BWSM2 (Made in Spain) by Ortega guitars and designed to my specs. I recorded it direct with it's built-in electronics using 50% mic and 50% pickup. For more info on it see: https://ortegaguitars.com/products/ny...
