Composer Shankar, of the Shankar- Ganesh duo, has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies for around 40 years. They started as an assistant to M S Viswanathan and T K Ramamoorthy from 1964 and later assisted MSV alone from 1965 till 1969.  Aattukara Alamelu was a turning point in their career.
