Blowing techniques and speech the VML method

The use of blowing techniques for speech treatment is controversial in the professional literature. However, most of the speech therapists will use it in treatment. In the VML method we are using blowing in treatment when needed. This movie demonstrates the efficacy of the blowing in acquiring non-voiced consonants.
The child in the movie is diagnosed with Engelmann syndrome and Childhood apraxia of speech. He had difficulties in pronouncing non-voiced consonants due to inability to separate vocal cords activity and blowing. The child practiced blowing for several months on a daily basis with different techniques. When the separation occurred the non-voiced consonants started to appear.
The VML method was developed in Israel by Dr Elad Vashdi and is being practiced at Yael center in Israel and at TheVoiceWithin clinic in Melbourne, Australia.
