China Encircles Taiwan with Military Drills Using Warships, Fighter Jets | Firstpost America
China continued with its military exercise around Taiwan as Chinese warships and fighter jets encircle the island. Beijing says that they are undertaking the drills as a way to “punish” Taiwan. The drills come after William Lai or Lai Ching-te was elected as the new President of Taiwan. Meanwhile, Taiwan has also deployed its navy, air force and army to track the Chinese movement. The US Pacific Command says that they are monitoring the drills which are “concerning” but were “predicted”. Meanwhile, China has warned Washington against supporting Taiwan. Beijing has also placed sanctions on 12 American defence firms including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and General Dynamics.
