There are renewed calls for Australia's government to list the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the military arm of Iran's government, as a terrorist organisation.

Iranian born British-American actress and human rights activist Nazanin Boniadi is in Australia to receive the 2023 Sydney Peace Prize for her commitment to advancing women's rights in Iran.

She spoke to the ABC's Nassim Khadem about the Women, Life, Freedom movement sparked by the death-in-custody of Mahsa Amini more than one year ago, and the breakout of the Israel-Gaza war.

She says peace in the Middle East won't be possible until governments – including Australia – stop Iran's support of other terrorist groups, including Hamas and Hezbollah, wreaking havoc in the region.

And cases of foreign interference – including the targeting and intimidation of Australian citizens – will continue as long as the Islamic Republic stays in power.
