The SsangYong Korando finds its niche among those seeking a capable off-road vehicle without the overt ruggedness of the Wrangler, the premium pricing of the Land Cruiser, or the trendiness of the Land Rover Freelander. This positioning creates an interesting dynamic. From the front, the Korando pays homage to the original Willys Jeep, sporting twin circular headlamps and separate wings, though seemingly compressed from both sides. On the contrary, the rear design is distinctly conventional, featuring a tidy, boxy shape. The final result is a fusion of two distinct design concepts.

Under the hood, the engine options hold their own against the demands. Crafted in Korea under Mercedes-Benz license, the 2.3-liter petrol engine exudes the refinement expected, while the 2.9-liter diesel variant, also sourced from Mercedes, has garnered more popularity. Notable equipment encompasses electric front windows, mirrors, a driver's seat with lumbar support that adjusts for height, a leather-covered steering wheel with tilt adjustments, power steering, tinted glass, as well as an alarm and immobilizer. Additionally, an RDS stereo radio cassette player ensures entertainment on the go.

Despite its exclusive three-door configuration, practicality remains a strong suit for the Korando. It generously accommodates five occupants with ample head and legroom, supplemented by a split/folding rear seat. Furthermore, a commendable 1254 liters of cargo space await in the rear – a feat that sets it apart from the Jeep Wrangler's capabilities.
