When Persian Armies defeated Egyptian armies using cats. During the time of the ancient Persian Empire, around 525 BC, the Persians faced off against the Egyptians in the battle of Pelusium. Egyptians were known for their reverence of cats. Aware of the Egyptians' high regard for cats, the Persians cleverly hatched a plan. They allegedly rounded up a large number of cats and released them onto the battlefield. Seeing their beloved animals caught in the middle of the conflict, the Egyptian soldiers hesitated to attack the Persians for fear of harming the cats. This hesitation allowed the Persian forces to gain the upper hand and ultimately claim victory over the Egyptians. Egyptians lost over fifty thousand men whereas Persians lost only seven thousand. Later, Persians would rule over Egypt for two hundred years until the return of Alexander the Great armies.
