قاسم سلیمانی (۲۰ اسفند ۱۳۳۵ – ۱۳ دی ۱۳۹۸) نظامی ایرانی بود که از ۱۳۷۶ تا زمان مرگش در ۱۳۹۸ به‌عنوان دومین فرماندهٔ نیروی قدس سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی فعالیت می‌کرد. وی در طی جنگ ایران و عراق فرماندهٔ نیروهای سپاه کرمان و از فرماندهان عملیات‌های والفجر هشت، کربلای چهار و پنج بود و چندین بار مجروح شد. سلیمانی پس از جنگ تا سال ۱۳۷۶، فرماندهٔ لشکر ۴۱ ثارالله کرمان بود و مسئولیت امنیت بخش‌های شرقی ایران را بر عهده داشت. او به‌عنوان فرمانده نیروی قدس سپاه پاسداران نقش مهمی در تقویت قدرت نظامی حزب‌الله لبنان و گروه‌های مسلح فلسطینی، جنگ افغانستان، جنگ اسرائیل و لبنان، تشکیل گروه‌های شبه‌نظامی در عراق پس از سرنگونی صدام حسین، سرکوب اعتراضات مردم سوریه[۱۳] و تغییر روند جنگ داخلی سوریه به نفع بشار اسد، همچنین مقابله با داعش در عراق و سوریه داشته‌است.
Qassem Soleimani (March 20, 1335 - January 13, 2018) was an Iranian soldier who served as the second commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from 1976 until his death in 2018. During the Iran-Iraq war, he was the commander of the Kerman Corps forces and one of the commanders of Wal-Fajr eight, Karbala four and five operations and was injured several times. After the war, until 1376, Soleimani was the commander of the 41st Army of Tharullah Kerman and was responsible for the security of the eastern parts of Iran. As the commander of the Quds Force of the IRGC, he played an important role in strengthening the military power of Lebanon's Hezbollah and Palestinian armed groups, the war in Afghanistan, the war between Israel and Lebanon, the formation of militia groups in Iraq after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, the suppression of the protests of the Syrian people[13] and changing the course of the war. The internal affairs of Syria are in favor of Bashar al-Assad, as well as confronting ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
