Going to a Japanese Language School // Japan Vlog 14
🎌📚 Welcome to my Japanese language school adventure in Shinjuku! 🇯🇵✨ I was filled with excitement as I embarked on this new journey, but little did I know what to expect. Last week, I had my very first private class, where we spent the entire 50 minutes getting to know each other (all in Japanese). While I didn't learn much in terms of language, it was a good icebreaker for the beginning.
Today was a different story as I attended my first group lesson. 😅 I have to be honest, I had to cut out some of the not-so-positive parts, but let me tell you, I was NOT thrilled with the experience. As I mentioned in the video, one of the students had been living in Japan for 20 years and was married to a Japanese man. It was a bit confusing why she was attending the class since her Japanese skills were already very advanced and flawless. Meanwhile, I struggled to keep up with the fast pace, and the teacher didn't provide much time for me to process or give proper explanations. It felt like I was observing their private class rather than being an active participant. And when I made mistakes or got most of the tasks wrong, the teacher simply moved on without helping me understand. It was quite frustrating, to say the least. 😔
However, I took matters into my own hands and reached out to the administration about my concerns. They had a conversation with the teacher, and thankfully, things improved afterward. 🙏 I'll be sharing more about my language school experience in a separate video, so stay tuned for that!
Despite the initial setbacks, I'm determined to make the most out of my time at the language school. Learning a new language can be challenging, but I believe perseverance and a positive attitude will lead me to success. 💪💫
