For a #HP #OfficeJet 5258 (#OfficeJet5258) #printing #problem such as #faded #text, #streaks in images, #missing #black or #color #inks, or #white #lines in printed images (i.e. #banding), to help #recover a severely #clogged integrated #HP 63 or 63XL #ink #cartridge due to prolonged #printhead #drying, perform the following steps.
Please note it is common for #integrated printhead #nozzles to become clogged if the #printer is not used on a regular basis, such as once or twice per week.
Using a flat bottom container, heat up several cups or a pint of distilled water and pour into the container so water is approximately ¼” or 10 mm deep. Place both the color and black cartridge into the container for 5 minutes to help loosen up the dried ink.
The hot water will help loosen up the dried ink which formed inside the very small printhead nozzle holes.
Using a damp towelette, wipe ink residues from the rear electrical contacts.
Blot the #printhead #nozzle plate which is located on the underside of the cartridge; for the color cartridge all three colors should be visible on the damp towelette.
Reinstall cartridges and activate a print nozzle test pattern or cleaning test.
All color bands should be visible with good quality.
If black or color is still missing then repeat all steps again until ink is visible on the damp towelette or printing has recovered.
Note: this procedure assumes the cartridge has an ample amount of ink to support printing.
