Hormuz  Island ( Persian: جزیره هرمز Jazireh-ye Hormoz), also spelled Hormoz is an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf and 8 km from Bandar Abbas. This oval-shaped island is located near the Strait of Hormuz and is one of the tourist destinations in southern Iran. Hormuz Island is known as Crayon Island because of its colorful and often red soil. The attractions of this island are: Silver Beach, Red Beach and Red Soil Mine, Rainbow Valley, Valley of Statues,Silence Valley and Salt Goddess, Salt Cave, Dr. Nadalian Museum, Hormoz Portuguese Castle,  Mangrove Forest or Harra Forests, Turtle's Beach.
