This is an extremely easy dish to make, you can make it in just 10 minutes!

To make this dish you’ll need;



300 g of Walnuts

1 Onion

1 Tbsp of Plum Paste

1 Tbsp of Pomegranate molasses

1 Tsp of Salt

¼ cup of Vegetable Oil



Technically, this dish isn’t supposed to have pomegranate molasses in it, but adding it will give your dish a way better taste.  



First, we need to mince the walnuts. Traditionally, you’d use a stone and crush them by hand, but to save time you can use a food processor.  

Leave the walnuts in the food processor until they turn into a paste. Since we’re not doing this by hand, the longer it stays in the food processor and becomes more paste-like, the better.  

Transfer the walnuts into a bowl and dice the onions in the food processor.

Add the walnuts into the onions and turn on the food processor until they’re fully combined.  

Add the salt, plum paste, and pomegranate molasses to the walnut mixture and mix until combined.

If you see that the paste is too runny, add more walnuts.


To make white rice, wash your rice thoroughly and then cover the top of the rice with water. To know whether you’ve added the right amount of water, stick your index finger into the pot, letting the tip of your finger rest on the rice. The water level should be up to the first crease on your finger.

Add salt and oil. I typically add ½ a teaspoon of salt per 1 cup of rice.  

Give it a quick stir and turn on the stove.  

Once most of the water has evaporated, turn down the heat, put on the pot lid, and let it steam on medium heat for about half an hour.  

Close to the end of the half-hour, add some butter or ghee oil to give the rice a better taste.



Heat up some oil in a pan.  

Take a small handful of the walnut paste and form it into a patty in your hands. Gently place it onto the pan.  

Make sure the pan is on low heat to prevent the patties from burning easily. (Walnuts burn quickly)
