Ibn Sina, known to the Western as Avicenna, is well-known for his dedication to medicine in the middle ages. Nonetheless, actually Ibn Sina is the great metaphysician dealing with the first principle of philosophy, that is metaphysics. Even though much influenced by his predecessor, al-Farabi, Ibn Sina developed his philosophy by himself. Ibn Sina is both Aristotelian and Neoplatonist in the Islamic philosophy,

Avicenna's concept of emanation seems different enough from al-Farabi's. Many Islamic scholars consider Avicenna the important philosopher leading philosophy to its highest peak in the medieval period. Unfortunately, there are only few conversations on his mystical philosophy--we'll try to investigate that thing next month.
