The Rise of the Medes: Iran's First Empire

In this video I discuss the rise of the Medians, Iran's first empire. Although, many historians regard the Medians as more of a tribal confederacy and not really an empire in the traditional sense, nonetheless, they were the first major Iranic state in the Near East. Towards the end I also discuss the relationship between the contemporary Kurdish people and the Medians.
