Alphabet of Classical Liberalism: 10. Protection of Nature

Classical liberals are often blamed for supporting greedy entrepreneurs who, for the sake of profit, damage natural environments, such as the rain forests, for instance, and ruthlessly pollute the atmosphere. “Economy and ecology should be irreconcilable!” some shout. "The only solution for nature protection lies in the hands of the government," say others. “Regulations in the name of "sustainable development" will save nature and make sure that our children will not have to breathe air through a gas mask” ... This is how the consequences of the market and classical-liberal politics on nature are somewhat caricatured. Believe me. It's not like that.
