2024 New SsangYong Torres EVX Review | GoPureCars
Hello everyone! 2024 SsangYong Torres EVX detailed: Meet the latest Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, and MG ZS EV rival that could be a perfectly sized electric SUV.
KG Mobility - The Torres EVX is the anticipated next-generation EV from the brand, which has undergone a significant overhaul in the last few years. It is interesting to see that SsangYong is taking the time and effort to develop a different design for the electric variant of the Torres, even though the firm has been through tough times for quite a long time.
Fortunately for SsangYong, the chemical and steel giant KG Group took over, paid its debt, and had the financial power to move on. If it offers its new electric SUV with enough power and range and continues its competitive pricing strategy, it may have a winner on its hands.
Slightly larger than its direct rivals like the Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, and MG ZS EV, the Torres looks to compete with cars in the same size-bracket as the Honda ZR-V and Nissan Qashqai, with total dimensions coming in at 4715mm long, 1890mm wide, and 1735mm tall.
The Torres EVX will pack a 73.4kWh battery pack good for a 433km combined driving range, and interestingly, will use BYD-style ‘blade battery’ LFP cells in its construction.
It is front-wheel drive only, powered by a 152kW/340Nm electric motor. Combined efficiency lands at 20kWh/100km.
The Torres has gotten off to a strong start in the Korean market, so much so the company confirmed last year it had to delay a planned local launch. The SUV broke the brand’s record for pre-orders in its home market with 12,000 in total.
Given the firm’s smaller Korando e-Motion starts at £33,995, it’s expected the Torres EVX will be priced closer to £40,000.
