Motor development refers to your child's gross motor skills which are big muscle activities like running, walking, and throwing, catching, kicking a ball and fine motor skills which are your intrinsic hand muscles and your child's ability to manipulate objects.

While every child develops differently, typically by the age of two your child should be walking by themselves, they should be beginning to run, they should be walking up and down stairs using a step-two pattern meaning both feet on each step with the hand rail, they should be able to kick a ball and throw a ball overhand. In the fine motor skill area they should be able to scribble spontaneously if you give them a crayon they'll just be coloring, and they should also should be able to turn over a container, pour things out, and they're also able to build a tower of about four blocks high.

It's again important to know that every child develops differently but these are some of the motor development milestones typically reached by age two.
