A "planet killer" asteroid known as 2022 AP7 may have caught your attention if you have been browsing around lately. Every five years, it completes one round of the Sun and currently crosses Earth's orbit when Earth is on the other side of the Sun from it. Its motion will eventually match with Earth's and it will pass much closer by, although this will take millennia. At this point it’s not possible to accurately forecast the threat that 2022 AP7 might present in a few hundred years, simply because we don't know enough about it yet. However, at the same time, we worry that more  undiscovered "planet killers" might exist. How many though? And how are they being sought after?
