As part of kickoff rules, there is a coin toss to start each match with the referees and each teams’ captain.

Though not in the rules, tradition says the visiting team’s captain gets to make the call of heads or tails.

The team that wins the coin toss decides which goal to attack in the first half OR if they want to take the kick-off in the first half.

The team that decided which goal to attack in the first half takes the kick-off to start the second half.

For the second half, the teams change sides and attack the opposite goals.

After a team scores a goal, the kick-off is taken by their opponents.

Though if you play pick-up soccer, you usually just have the goalkeeper that was scored on start with the ball.

Consider these things for every kickoff:

Number 1 for Kickoff Soccer Rules- All players must be in their own half of the field of play.

Except for the player taking the kick off.

Number 2 for Kickoff in Soccer Rules - The opponents of the team taking the kick-off must be at least 10 yards from the ball until it is in play.

You don’t usually have to worry about this because there is often a large center circle in the middle of the field that you have to start outside of.

Number 3 for Kickoff in Soccer - The ball must be stationary before being kicked.

And it must be kicked from the center mark.

Number 4 for Soccer Kickoff Tips - The referee gives a signal.

Usually a hand signal and a blow of the whistle.

Number 5 of Kickoff Rules Soccer - The ball is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves.

Just stepping on it or tapping it is not enough.

Number 6 of u10 Soccer Kickoff Rules - A goal may be scored directly against the opponents from the kickoff.

So, if the goalkeeper is out of place and you have a strong enough leg. Consider taking a chance at shooting it.
