Various shots of the British troops advancing through smoke screen during the World War I, grenade charge around. British troops marching through a village after the battle. Intertitle reads 'After the battle some of the 'Fighting Fifth' resting. (Note their German Trophies)'. Various shots of the British troops resting on ground, chatting, sitting around looking into captured boxes, wearing German hats and waving their arms in the air with joy. Troops marching along country road. Intertitle reads 'British lines on the Canadian flank.' Various shots of captured German soldiers walking through muddy trenches. Mud in German trenches. Intertitle reads 'Entering the communication trenches.' Men moving through the trenches. Intertitle reads 'With the 5th Battalion Canadian infantry from Saskatchewan. Two prisoners stroking a dog. Men cleaning outside a house and cutting wood, German soldier walks around them. Several shots of a group of German officer chatting outside a villa.



Cataloguer's note - item very unclear, intertitles in the second half in old Brazilian Portuguese (translations below). Besides those British prisioners shown after de 2nd intertitle, all others are German soldiers. Information given to Pathe suggests that the Lille and General Von Laffert (XIX Army Corps) mentions, could indicate this film was made around the first Battle of Ypres.

8: A sawmill in the front. (Uma serração mecânica na frente).



9: A four-legged friend found shelter among the German soldiers, that a year take care of him (um amigo de quatro pernas encontrou agasalho entre os soldados alemães que a um ano cuidam dele)



10: The battalion General Staff behind the first line. The land shelters are protected from large-caliber shells (O estado maior do batalhão atrás da primeira linha. As habitações na terra estão protegidas contra granadas de grosso calibre)
