With a population of over 2 million Tabriz is the largest economic hub and metropolitan area in northwest Iran. The population is bilingual with most people speaking Azerbaijani as their native language and Persian as their second language. Tabriz is a major heavy industries hub for automobiles, machine tools, refineries, petrochemicals, textiles, and cement production industries. The city is famous for its handicrafts, including hand-woven rugs and jewelry. Local confectionery, chocolate, dried nuts and traditional Tabrizi food are recognized throughout Iran as some of the best.
Tabriz contains many historical monuments, representing Iran's architectural transition throughout its deep history. Among these sites is the grand Bazaar of Tabriz, which is designated a World Heritage Site.
While touring the city of Tabriz you will notice a series of red-colored mountains. Eynali is a mountain north of Tabriz (1800 m). A paved road connects the base on the Northern highway of Tabriz to its peak. Nowadays the Eynali peak is a daily hiking destination for many residents of Tabriz.
A walk up the mountain is definitely worth it. At night you have a wonderful view of the sea of lights of Tabriz, and if you look closely, you can also see the various columns of cars rolling through the city.
It includes cable cars, various mountaineering routes, shrines, the Aoun Ibn Ali Mosque, an artificial lake, forestry projects, and other facilities.
Tabriz cable car has 6 towers which are to be increased to 24 in the final phase. Each cabin can carry up to 8 people. The length of the route in the first phase is 1480 meters and will take you to the highest point in a short time.
El Goli, also known as Shah Goli, is a historic park in Tabriz that have an artificial lake. In the middle of the lake, there is an octagonal building with two floors, which is known as El Goli Palace. This building is currently used as a restaurant. Many hotels and restaurants surround the El Goli, which is now well equipped and contains many restaurants across the resort.
Around the lake visitors can take a boat or go for a walk and appreciate the view and take a photo, especially at sunset.
