Author John Buchan is recognised for his iconic novel The Thirty-Nine Steps and is widely regarded as one of British literature’s most unfairly overlooked figures. The documentary uses his published works, private correspondence, and papers to try to give the writer the attention he so richly deserves.

The documentary first aired in 2007 tying in with a new BBC production of The Thirty-Nine Steps.
