Hi, this is Dez Blanchfield, bringing you some interesting topics to learn about. I was at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona when I spoke with Anders Rosengren from Ericsson. Anders is the Head of Architecture and Technology at Ericsson Digital Services.

I asked Anders to share with us what Ericsson is offering at their pavilion this year. To get a better understanding of Ericsson Digital Services portfolio, I asked Anders to explain it briefly.

Anders spoke about the need to have a cloud infrastructure. He also mentioned the cloud core that is due to be launched this year and which will support the transition from 4G to 5G.

Anders talked about Operational Support Systems (OSS) and how they bring together network management, orchestration - workload and resource orchestration in the lower level, and end-to-end service orchestration. Then Business Support Systems (BSS) takes place to monetise your services. In short, Ericsson can go from creating products/services to its activation.

After discussing Ericsson’s capability of doing cell service that allows consumers to sign up online for a new service, I asked Anders to explain the term network slicing, and talk about what Ericsson Digital Services is doing in that space, and what difference is it bringing.

Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona has a lot to offer. If you want to see the highlights and other key takeaways of this event, you can follow their social media pages on Linkedin and Twitter.
