A shift in how Wednesday's story will be told in season 2 will further accentuate a fan-favorite supporting character. Wednesday was met with overwhelming praise following its Netflix debut, with audiences appreciating just how well the spinoff series adapted Addams Family canon into a new but just as beloved installment for the popular franchise. Similar to past franchise installments, Wednesday is a dark comedy horror feature that aims to recount the misadventures of the family with a particular focus on Wednesday as she balances day-to-day life at the mysterious high school for outcasts, Nevermore Academy.
Amid odes to the franchise, familiar characters from canon, and spooky undertones, Wednesday includes fresh and exciting material like brand-new characters, never-before-seen storylines and dynamics, and innovative approaches to how Addams Family canon can continue to expand. Already, Wednesday's upcoming season 2 seeks to capitalize off of its fresh perspective of Addams Family canon by skewing the series even darker. While it is a gamble to step away from what made season 1 so successful, the change in the series' tone will be useful to Wednesday in numerous ways, including making a cherished supporting character even better.
